Employment of Arab Women in the Negev

This report deals with occupational trends among Bedouin women in the Negev. The report shows that the employment rates of Bedouin Arab women in the Negev are very low over time. The low employment rates among Bedouin women are related to various fundamental factors, including development disparities between peripheral and central populations, disparities and discrimination between Jews and Arabs, disparities in regional development policies, and local normative limitations.

Based on a review of data and documents relating to the issue of employment among Bedouin women, the report sets forth recommendations to improve the negative trends, including increasing budgetary investments, establishing employment bureaus in Bedouin communities, creating assistance programs for students, expanding public transportation services and early childhood education frameworks, and more.
