Damage to Employment, Protection, and Sense of Security among Women in the Negev Bedouin Communities, in the Shadow of the War between Israel and the Hamas

This study was written as a result of the war that broke out between Israel and Hamas in October 2023. The research focused on the ramifications of the war in terms of the aspects of protection, security and employment of Bedouin women in the Negev. It is based on an online survey that was undertaken during the last week of November 2023 among 350 residents from Negev Bedouin communities. The results show that the war has had significant ramifications on the lives of Bedouin women in different townships and villages, in employment and economic terms, as well as from the aspects of a sense of protection and safety of the women. Moreover, the results show that two groups of women are hit hardest by the ongoing war: the Bedouin women who live in the unrecognized villages and those who have less than 12 years of formal education.
