Idle Youth in the Bedouin Community in the Negev – A Critical Perspective

The recently published State Comptroller’s report on idle Arab youth points to the far-reaching consequences of this phenomenon not only for the Arab public but also for Israeli society as a whole.

The report highlights the urgency of addressing idle youth in the Bedouin community, in which their proportion is higher compared to other groups in Arab society. The Comptroller notes that the government’s program for addressing idle youth was not based on accurate and up-to-date data and did not take into account the unique characteristics of the Bedouin community. This is despite the particularly high potential for advancing idle youth in this community.
